The Opposition Naga People’s Front on Friday expressed grim concern over the rapid surge in the number of Covid-19 positive cases as well as death in Nagaland.

The party made an appeal to the government to gear themselves up to fight the pandemic in the state especially the aftermath of the lockdown which has been extended to May 31 in the State.

They also assured that they will fully cooperate and provide every possible support to the government in this war against Covid-19.

The press bureau of NPF emphasized that the government should arrange Covid vaccine to all citizens above 18 years. They also stressed on spreading awareness about the importance of vaccine as many are skeptical about the vaccine.

“As the positive rate is increasing each day, more hospital beds and medical equipment should be immediately arranged, particularly in Dimapur and Kohima, and even in other districts as the worst time is likely to hit the State if the present trend continues,” the NPF stated.

The party also suggested taking help from retired doctors.

The party further urged the government to issue guidelines to the villages, wards as well as colonies and make them aware that those whose test results are yet to be out should isolate themselves completely. There have been reports of people not following Covid protocols before their test results are out which eventually pose the threat of more contraction.
