DIMAPUR: Nagaland Ranji cricket team captain Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer has signed a contract to play for Morecambe Cricket Club in the United Kingdom (UK) for the 2021 season.
“Rongsen, an accomplished batsman who can bowl off spin, currently plays for Nagaland in the Ranji Trophy and will join MCC as a replacement for Mitchel Van Buuren,” Morecambe Cricket Club said in a statement.

“Congratulations to Mr. Jonathan Rongsen Longkumer, skipper of Nagaland cricket team and an inspiration to many, on joining @MorecambeCC! We're immensely proud and look forward to seeing him in action. My best wishes to him on the new responsibility!” Nagaland deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton tweeted.
Morecambe Cricket Club, established in 1889, is one of the oldest English cricket clubs, located at Morecambe, Lancashire, United Kingdom (UK).
Rongsen, a 34-year-old all-rounder from Akhoya village in Nagaland's Mokokchung district, is a right-handed batsman and medium pacer. He is based in Bengaluru.
Rongsen has hogged the limelight with his consistent performance in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournaments over the past two years.
