The suspected outbreak of measles in zunheboto is now under control

Suspected outbreak of measles has been reported from Aghunato Block, Zunheboto. According to the data provided by DPO (RCH and UIP) Zunheboto, Dr.Alemwabang Aier, a total of 50 cases have been identified from areas of Aghunato town, Shevishe and Lukikhe as on 28th May.

As per reports, the relevant blood, urine samples and throat swap have been collected and sent for laboratory testing. Measles is a highly infectious and deadly disease among children which is easily preventable by vaccination.

However the immunization coverage has remained below 50% in the district. Health department with the help of district administration is running an immunization drive under special Intensive Mission Indradhanush and also making efforts to improve Routine Immunization Coverage for pregnant mothers and children below five years of age.

The district administration, through press release, has appealed to all the concerned citizens to give full support and ensure that no child is left behind from life-saving vaccines
