NPF concern over shortage of first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Nagaland

Dimapur, Apr 26: Opposition Naga People’s Front (NPF) today expressed concern over reported shortage of first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Nagaland.

The NPF urged the State Government to be serious enough in the health sector, particularly in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, and do justice to its citizens.

It also asked the government to immediately make available the vaccine and sensitize its people about its importance so that no eligible person is left out.

The press bureau of the party, in a release, said it is learnt that Nagaland is facing a shortage of Covid-19 vaccine for its citizens as the second wave of the pandemic hit each and every nation.

“The Nagaland Government should be prepared with the vaccine for its eligible citizens but it appears that the vaccine has run out of stock,” the party stated.

It said while the central government has announced that by May 1 every citizen above the age of 18 will be eligible to get their dose of vaccine, the people in the State were disappointed on learning that the vaccine is out of stock in any medical houses and the only remaining vaccine dose in the stock is for the second phase.

The NPF asked the State Government how it is preparing to tackle the second wave of the pandemic when the vaccine has run out of stock. It also sought to know what alternative arrangement the government is making for the people who were denied of their first dose due to shortage of the vaccine.
