Imphal (Manipur), Aug 3 2018:

A consultative meeting of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) central office bearers along with NPF legislators of Nagaland and Manipur was held at NPF office in Kohima on Friday.

The meeting resolved to stand firm under the leadership of NPF president Shürhozelie Liezietsu and former chief minister and leader of NPF Legislature Party TR Zeliang, besides approving the party president and the leader of the NPF Legislature Party to take final decision in the event of new political re-alignment with other political parties, particularly in Manipur and Nagaland.

Reiterating its stand on integration of all contiguous Naga areas as enshrined in the party’s constitution, the NPF also appealed to neighbouring States to be rational in their approach on the Naga political issue.

Claiming that the Parliamentary Standing Committee did not touch the core issues, the meeting welcomed all its suggestions for early solution of the Naga political issue and appealed to other Naga national groups that had not joined the peace process to reconsider their decision in the interest of Naga people.

The party also resolved to oppose the proposed Citizenship Amendment Act in its present form, besides urging the people of Nagaland to remain alert as many illegal immigrants could enter Nagaland in view of the publication of the draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam.

The meeting further expressed its disappointment over the functioning of the present People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in Nagaland.
