The National People’s Party (NPP), which is a major constituent of Meghalaya’s ruling coalition, forayed into poll-bound Mizoram on Sunday.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma launched the NPP’s Mizoram unit in Aizawl. The party will field candidates in the upcoming elections to the 40-member Mizoram Assembly.
The NPP was launched in the state in the presence of Meghalaya Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, Home Minister James K Sangma, Manipur Sports Minister Letpao Haokip, chief advisor to the Chief Minister Thomas A Sangma and other leaders from the north-eastern states.
Apart from Meghalaya and now in Mizoram, the NPP has its presence in Manipur and Nagaland.
