DIMAPUR: Senior Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isaak-Muivah) functionary Akhyuba Sangtam passed away on November 12, 2020. Sangtam, a Deputy Kilonser of the NSCN (IM), passed away in the wee hours of the morning at 5:45 am. The death of the senior NSCN (IM) functionary has been condoled by Th. Muivah -- the Ato Kilonser of Nagaland's largest insurgent outfit.
"I am really saddened by the sudden demise of Mr. Akhyuba Sangtam, Deputy Kilonser, Forest & Environment, NSCN who passed away this morning at 5. 45 am," Muivah wrote in his post.

In his condolence message, Muivah added that the deceased fuctionary joined the NSCN on the 18th of July, 2012 and had been serving the insurgent body in various capacities all through his life.
"His sacrifices and contribution for the righteous cause of the Nagas will be remembered always. Indeed it is a great loss for the Naga Nation. At this moment of his departure, I convey my condolence to the bereaved family and relatives. May our Almighty God give solace and peace to the dear and near ones of the departed soul," Muivah wrote.
The death of the senior NSCN (IM) functionary has been reported at a time when the Government of India has stepped up its efforts to hammer out a "final solution" to the decades-long insurgency problem in Nagaland.
