The general secretary of insurgent group National Socialist Council of Nagalim, widely known as NSCN-IM, has been admitted to a hospital in New Delhi.
According to NSCN-IM, he was admitted to the hospital – the name of which was not disclosed – after he had complained of an “upset stomach”.
“It was a routine checkup. There is nothing serious. He was admitted yesterday (Monday). The doctors advised him to be in the hospital for a day. He is most likely to be released by this (Tuesday) evening,” NSCN-IM leader Karaiba Chawang told InsideNe.
Sources said Muivah was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital after he had complained of “uneasiness”.
The 84-year-old Muivah, the Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, NSCN-IM, has been the outfit’s central figure in its ongoing peace negotiations with the Central government. He had led most rounds of the peace talks between both sides in the country as well as abroad.
It was he who had signed the “Framework Agreement” with the Government of India on August 3, 2015.
