Assam Rifles troopers and police personnel on May 3 apprehended active cadre of the Khango Konyak-led faction of the banned NSCN (K) in Nagaland's Kiphire district.

The team also recovered a magazine of Point 22 mm Pistol, extortion slips and other incriminating documents from the ultra.
In the recent weeks, there have been several reports of army personnel arresting Naga insurgents in NE Indian states.
Indian Army troopers and Assam Police personnel jointly apprehended an overground Worker (OGW) of NSCN (K) near Ledo in Tinsukia District of Assam on April 30.

Based on a specific input, the joint team launched the operation in the area and apprehended the alleged “sympathiser” of the proscribed group.
The apprehended individual has been identified as Shante Limbu, who is a resident of the Phulbari village in Jagun.
During the operation, the troops also recovered a .22 Pistol along with live ammunition from the worker. The apprehended worker along with recovered weapon and ammunition has been handed over to Tinsukia Police Station for further investigations.
It is interesting to note here that many cadres affiliated to the Naga insurgent group have been nabbed in Assam districts in recent times.

Assam Rifles and police on April 27 jointly apprehended two active cadres of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Reformation) near Ramgaizang village in Cachar district of Assam.
Similarly, on April 24, Indian army troopers and personnel of Assam Police jointly apprehended a cadre belonging to the Isaak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) near Lalpahara in Tinsukia District of Assam.
Earlier, in another operation on April 23, troops of the Indian army also apprehended a “senior cadre” of the NSCN (IM) near Titabor in Jorhat District of Assam. During the operation, the troops recovered two American manufactured Beretta pistols alongwith two magazines.
