In view of the massive mudslide at Pherima, a landslide at Tseipama/Piphema, and another major landslide on NH-29 (Pagala Pahar/New Chumoukedima) which has washed away an entire section of the road, all vehicular traffic between Kohima and Dimapur on NH-29 is blocked as it is not possible to ply on this stretch of road.
Alternate routes via Pimla-Mhainamtsi for commuting between Kohima and Dimapur are also not advised due to the above mudslide/landslides.
The Niuland-Kohima via Zhadima road can be used by light motor vehicles only. No heavy vehicles shall be allowed to ply on this route. This advisory is issued as a matter of public safety and urgency.
The citizens are requested to take extreme precautions during this weather condition and to plan their travels accordingly.

In view of the highway blockage at NH-29 Pherima due to landslide/landslip, an alternate route via Niuland-Zhadima (10th IR Camp)-10th Mile Junction is suggested for LMVs (Light Motor Vehicles).
It has come to the notice of the undersigned that the general public is resorting to panic buying of essential commodities and fuel due to a fallacious assumption of shortage of these commodities owing to landslides which have affected a portion of NH-29 on the intervening night of 3rd and 4th September 2024.
Therefore, it is hereby informed to all concerned that there is no such shortage and the general public is cautioned to refrain from panic buying.
The District Administration, Kohima, is collaborating with its counterparts of the neighbouring districts to ensure that the supply of essential commodities and fuel are in no way affected by continuing the supply through available alternate routes.
