Guwahati, February 14, 2019:

In what is being described as the worst terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, at least 42 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been martyred in a deadly suicide attack at Pulwama's Awantipora area in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening.

The attackers used a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (known as VBIED) in order to target a CRPF bus that was part of a 50-vehicle convoy.

The convoy was on its way to Pulwama via Srinagar-Jammu highway. A suicide bomber driving the IED-laden car crashed into the bus.

Around 45 jawans were on board during the attack and the bus was reduced to a tangled heap of iron.

According to reports, militant organization Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. A spokesperson of the banned terrorist organization said: "dozens of forces' vehicles were destroyed in the attack".

The suicide bomber named as Adil Ahmad Dar has come forward claiming responsibility for the attack and has released a video online. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come forward condemning the attack on Twitter.
