4 Kids Among 15 Killed in Pune After Wall Collapses Due to Rain

Pune, June 29, 2019:

At least 15 people have died after a 60-ft wall of a residential complex collapsed early in the morning on Saturday in Pune's Kondhwa area.

According to police, the wall collapsed on some shanties due to incessant rains.

Police also said that the shanties had been built for the labourers working at a construction site nearby.

The compound wall collapsed around 1.45 am Friday night, according to the officials.

Two to three people are still believed to be trapped and rescue operations are underway. The NDRF team has also reached the spot to scout for survivors. The number of people who have been injured in the incident is yet to be confirmed.

The deceased included nine men, a woman and four children, according to initial reports from the fire department officials. The deceased are yet to be identified.

It may be mentioned that Pune city in Maharashtra has been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past few days.

Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, said that the wall collapsed due to heavy rainfall and negligence of the construction company is coming to light with this incident. He also stated that the government will provide help to the people affected by this accident.

Meanwhile, Pune police commissioner K Venkatesham has said that a team of Pune police is investigating the reasons behind the incident.

Mayor of Pune, Mukta Tilak has also said that an investigation will be conducted into the incident.
