4 'Rape Accused' of Hyderabadi Veterinarian Shot Dead in Encounter

New Delhi, December 6, 2019:

All four men accused in the gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian in Telangana was killed in an encounter by the Cyberabad police during the wee hours on Friday.

The encounter took place at Chatanpally near Shadnagar, where the 26-year-old victim's charred body was found.

According to reports, the police had taken the four accused to the crime spot to recreate the crime scene, when the four tried to escape. The police asked them to surrender, but could not stop them, following which the cops fired at them. The bodies of the accused have been taken to Shadnagar government hospital. Three police personnel have also been injured in the incident.

The news of the encounter of the accused spread like wildfire. People across the country have lauded the Hyderabad cops for their bold action against the rape accused.

It is to be mentioned here that a 26-year-old veterinarian, went missing from Shamshabad toll plaza, near Hyderabad, on Wednesday night. The four accused raped, and then burnt, her to death and her burnt body was recovered the following day.

Reportedly, the police were able to track the accused based on inputs from people, clues from the crime scene and CCTV footage. All the accused who were arrested on November 29 were in judicial custody and were lodged in high-security cells in Cherlapally Central Prison amid high security and additional police deployment.

They were charged under IPC sections 302 (murder), 375 (rape) and 362 (abduction).

Lauding the police over the action, the victim’s sister thanked the media and the police and said she is happy that the four accused have been killed in an encounter.

After the police confirmed the death of the four accused, locals gather in Hyderabad to shower petals on the police personnel in celebration.

Meanwhile, the Twitterati have poured down laudatory messages for the Hyderabad cops and Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar. One of the posts read, “Justice has been served”.

The victim’s father said “This is not justice...our daughter is lost to us forever. But, this is a relief.”

Activist Trupti Desai called the action of the police as a “good example” in society. She added, “Now rapists will think twice before committing a crime, they will now fear getting killed in a police encounter.”

It may be mentioned that this is the second such encounter in Telangana. In December 2008, three accused of the acid attack were killed by Warangal Police when they tried to attack the cops at the crime scene. V C Sajjanar, the present Police Commissioner of Cyberabad was SP of Warangal at that time.
