4 Terrorists Killed in Gunfight with Security Personnel in J&K's Shopian

J&K, April 22, 2020:

At least 4 terrorists have been neutralized by the Indian Armed forces during an operation carried out in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said on Wednesday.

The 4 terrorists were killed in an encounter launched by security personnel in the Malhura Zanpora village of the district after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.

With the lockdown to contain the COVID-19 in progress, the Indian armed forces have eliminated at least six terrorists in the South Kashmir region in the last one month, reports said.

However, the Indian Army has also lost five commandoes of the elite Special Forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara district on April 6.

Four soldiers under the command of a Junior Commissioned Officer from one of the most professional units were dropped by helicopters near the Line of Control after information on the infiltrators was received. In a hand-to-hand battle, five terrorists were eliminated, official reports said. However, the Indian Army lost five of its soldiers in the skirmish — three on the site and two more who succumbed while they were being airlifted to a nearby military hospital.

Earlier, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost three of its personnel in another attack in Sopore town.
