Nearly 46 flights approaching Delhi had been diverted to nearby cities till midnight, following the cold wave that has swept North India and has affected air and train services in the region.

Also, some 800 flights were delayed and over 100 trains remained two hours behind schedule due to low visibility on Friday.

Delhi Airport on Saturday morning advised passengers to contact the airlines concerned to know about the status of flight departures and arrivals. In the official twitter handle of the Delhi Airport, it was stated, “While landings and takeoffs continue at Delhi airports, flights that are not CAT III A compliant may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.”

Reportedly the CAT III A pilots can only land their flights if the minimum visibility is at 200 metres. However, those untrained have to keep flying in the air till the visibility improves, or have to be diverted to another airport.
