Actor Naseeruddin Shah said that he is disturbed by open hate in the society while speaking on the recent FIR lodged against 49 celebrities for writing an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Shah was among the 180 members of the cultural community who had condemned the recently filed FIR against 49 celebs for expressing their concern on the rising mob lynching incidents in India.
During a session at the India Film Project, Naseeruddin Shah said that he never had a close relationship with the film industry and fraternity in any case. He added that he said what he felt and he stood by it.

The actor further said that he had faced a lot of abuse by people, who had nothing better to do, but it did not affect him at all, but the open hate was disturbing.
Last week, a local advocate of Muzaffarpur had filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 49 celebrities for writing an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the rising mob lynching incidents across the country.

The list included Ramachandra Guha, Aparna Sen, Anurag Kashyap, Shyam Benegal and Maniratnam among others. They were accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections relating to sedition, public nuisance, hurting religious feelings and insulting with an intent to provoke breach of peace.
In the letter addressed to PM Modi, the eminent personalities had expressed their concern over rising mob lynching incidents. It said that the lynching of Muslims, Dalits and other minorities must be stopped immediately.
The advocate said that they were accused of tarnishing the image of the country and undermining the impressive performance of the Prime Minister besides supporting secessionist tendencies.
