Bollywood diva Urmila Matondkar has joined the Congress on Wednesday in presence of party president Rahul Gandhi. She has been inducted in the presence of Randeep Surjenwala, MRCC President Milind Deora and Sanjay Nirupam.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Urmila Matondkar said, “It is a very crucial day for me as from now on I’ll be stepping into active politics. I belong to a family of literates and moved into the film industry in which all people have supported me to reach such heights. But the thought of responsibility towards the society was given to me during my childhood by my family.”
She further added, “Lakhs of people who sacrificed their lives for the country but they have given us something beyond that, what we know as freedom- to live, work, speak. But this freedom has been restricted to a certain extent and many voices have been suppressed for which I want to be medium for them.”
