The Nationalist Congress Party’s Ajit Pawar has resigned as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra ahead of a floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly on Wednesday.
Pawa’s resignation comes within hours of the Supreme Court’s order of a floor test for the newly-appointed CM of Maharashtra.
According to reports, the resignation was an outcome of the shocking turn of event in the power-play of Maharashtra.

The apex court has ordered Fadnavis a test to check if he has the support of the majority of the Assembly. It may be mentioned here that Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have expressed that they already have the support of over 160 MLAs.
It may be mentioned here that Devendra Fadnavis was sworn-in as the Maha Chief Minister at a time when the whole nation was expecting the Sena-NCP-Congress alliance to form the government. BJP surprised everyone with Devendra Fadnavis as the Maharashtra Chief Minister for the second term.

The new alliance had come as a major jolt in the political scene of Maharashtra. Pawar, who was in supporting Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray for the Chief Minister’s post and was hinting at the alliance of NCP-Sena-Congress, decided to join the BJP.
Ajit Pawar's resignation has come a few days after he took oath as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra.
