Congress-ruled states are likely to pass a resolution against the implementation of the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
The Opposition said that all that states, in which it is in power should follow the example of Punjab government in passing the anti-CAA resolution in their respective constituencies.

Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel had come up with statement of Congress-ruled states passing a resolution against CAA. He said that the party would consider the proposal and added that the party was thinking of bringing a resolution against the CAA in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This, according to him, would send a clear message to the central government to reconsider the Act.
It may be mentioned here that after Punjab moved a resolution in the Legislative Assembly demanding scrapping of the CAA on Friday, Rajasthan has decided to bring in an assembly resolution in the budget session beginning on January 24.

Ahmed Patel’s comments came a day after his another Congress leader Kapil Sibal stated that the states cannot decide against implementing a law passed by Parliament.
