A man hit by a storm in the Indian Ocean survived 28 days adrift before he hit the coast in Odisha’s Puri district.
The storm-hit man, 49-year-old man Amrit Kujur, is a resident of Shahid Dweep at Andaman and Nicobar Islands (A&N). He follows sea routes for a living and supplies groceries and potable water to the passing ships.

Kujur and a friend, Divyaranjan, on September 28, set out from the island to trade with ships on the Indian Ocean. They were left stranded after being hit by a storm as the boat was badly damaged.
They were later helped by a Burmese Navy ship which stocked the boat with 260 litres of fuel for their way back to A&N and equipped them with a compass. But they were hit by another storm and lost course once again.
The duo were again left stranded as they ran out of fuel and somehow managed to survive by drinking seawater.
