KOLKATA: Vehicles of BJP leaders JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy were attacked in Bengal on their way to the Diamond Harbour to meet party workers for the upcoming Bengal elections in 2021 on Thursday. A number of vehicles including that of Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh were damaged in the attack.
As the convoys headed towards the Harbour, protesters gathered on the streets and tried to block the road to stop Nadda’s convoy from passing. Protesters also pelted stones at the vehicles.
Dilip Ghosh alleged that stones and bricks were thrown at the BJP national president JP Nadda’s convoy.

“Trinamool workers sporting party flags and armed with lathis attacked our convoy at multiple places. Stones and bricks were hurled by TMC workers. Several cars have sustained damage. Police were mute spectators in some places and missing elsewhere,” Ghosh was quoted as saying.
In defence, TMC MP Sougata Roy said: “It is not possible to cover every inch of the route with policemen. Spontaneous protest by the people may have happened in some places. That is what I saw.”
In a tweet, Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar said, "Concerned at alarming reports of anarchy and lawlessness @MamataOfficial indicating ruling party harmads on rampage at BJP President Convoy and political police @WBPolice in support. This happening inspite of my alerts to CS & DGP early morning indicated collapse of law & order."
