Mahua Moitra, the Trinamool Congress MP who represents Krishnanagar Constituency in West Bengal, has lambasted the BJP over its implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
In yet another scorching speech in parliament on Monday, denouncing the BJP over what she called its "betrayal of the citizens" who believed in the party's slogan of "Sabka saath sabka vikas (development for all).

During her speech, videos of which have been going viral, Mahua Moitra says, "You betrayed them by questioning the citizenship of the very citizens who voted you to power."
The BJP is building a "narrative where our dadis become your terrorists and our children become your desh drohis (traitors)", said the lawmaker, who remained on the online trending lists for her speech linking the BJP with fascism.
It may be mentioned that the BJP-led Government recently amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for illegal migrants of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities, who had fled persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 2014.
