New Delhi, January 14, 2019:

In a statement that could trigger a fresh controversy, senior BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that he wishes to launch a surgical strike on the Congress party, the main opposition to the saffron unit.

Accusing the opposition Congress of appeasing Pakistan and back-stabbing India, Patra said that the Congress' "behavior" has led him to desire a 'surgical strike' on the Congress party. "The kind of behavior that the Congress has shown today....heart desires a surgical strike on them", Patra said, condemning Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhury for his comments on Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had taken swipe at Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane yesterday over his statement on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Mr Chowdhury, who is the party's leader in the Lok Sabha, advised the newly-appointed Army Chief to "talk less and work more".

Lambasting 3-time former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, who had said that that PM Modi is a Hindu version of Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Patra lamented that the Congress leadership has time-and-again attempted to paint Hindus as terror elements in Indian society. Patra, who is one of the more controversial BJP leaders, claimed that the Congress is hatching a "larger conspiracy", and indicated that the Congress is a "python" that seeks to gulp its own motherland.

"When 26/11 was carried out, Sonia Gandhi sent Digvijay Singh to hold the RSS culpable for the attack to give Pakistan of giving a clean chit", Patra stated, alleging India's 'grad old party' of "speaking the language of Pakistan."

It may be mentioned that the Congress party has run afoul of the ruling BJP on Monday, and has demanded the withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said the process of the National Population Register(NPR) should be stopped immediately.

The like-minded parties adopted a resolution, asserting the combination of CAA, NRC and NPR was an "unconstitutional package" that targeted poor people, SC/STs and minorities.
