BJP Leader Kicked and Thrown into Ditch by Trinamool Congress Supporters, Video Goes Viral

Kolkata, November 26, 2019:

Prakash Majumdar, who is the Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president and the party candidate for the Karimpur assembly by-poll Jay Prakash Majumdar was on Monday beaten up and thrown into a ditch, allegedly by supporters of the Trinamool Congress party.

A video of the incident has been shared on social media platforms, and is quickly going viral. In the video, the Trinamool Congress activists can be seen dragging Jay Prakash Majumdar and then kicking him off the road.

The incident reportedly took place when voting for the Karimpur assembly by-election was on, and the BJP leader was trying to enter a polling booth.

Later, the BJP leader told mediapersons ay Prakash Majumdar said that he was beaten and kicked, and slogans were being shouted against him. He further alleges that the local police has not taken any action against the perpetrators.

The BJP leader has also named a certain 'TMC goon' called Raju Mallick, who he claimed 'threatened the villagers' and called upon the election commission to take action against him. Majumdar also claims that two of his aides were abducted by the TMC leads.

According to reports, the Election Commission has now sought an account of the incident.

It may be mentioned here that the Karimpur Constituency was vacated by MLA Mahua Moitra after emerging victorious from Krishnnanagar Lok Sabha seat. CPI(M)-Congress candidate Gholam Rabbi is contesting against Majumdar and TMC's Bimalendu Singha Roy.
