BJP Mandal President shot dead in Odisha

Guwahati, April 15, 2019:

In the latest incident of poll-related violence, a BJP official has been shot dead in Odisha's Khurda near the saffron party's Nabina Bag office, reports have said.

The BJP official was shot at by a bike-borne miscreant late on Sunday. Following this incident, the district unit of the BJP has declared a Khurda bandh from 8 am to 2 am on Monday.

Khordha BJP MLA candidate Kalu Khandayatra who witnessed the incident said, “After a meeting, we all were still on the road, discussing, and Jena was with us. As he turned to leave, a person riding a scooty passed by while firing two rounds at him. The attacker also fired another round at me. I escaped unhurt but Jena was killed.”

Khordha has meanwhile accused Biju Janata Dal (BJD) thugs of carrying out the assassination.
