Social media giant Facebook on Thursday, 3rd of September banned BJP MLA from Telangana T Raja Singh. Singh has also been banned from Instagram.
A Facebook spokesperson issued a statement, “We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating our policy prohibiting those that promote or engage in violence and hate from having a presence on our platform.”
On the other hand, Raja Singh informed that he was not on Facebook since April 2019. He shared a video requesting Facebook to allow him to create a new account. In an official statement, Singh said that his account was hacked back in 2018 and he further added that a complaint had been registered to the police.
The personal Twitter account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also hacked early this morning. Twitter informed that it has taken the necessary steps to secure the account and is now actively investigating the issue.
Facebook has recently announced that it will take down content that could result in regulatory or legal headaches for the company.
The Facebook warning read, “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal r regulatory impacts to Facebook.”
Facebook did not give any explicit reason behind taking this step but people are assuming it to be connected to a threat posed by the Trump administration.
