BJP MP Tejaswi Surya Wants NRC Implemented in Karnataka

Guwahati, July 11, 2019:

Newly elected MP of the BJP party from Bangaluru, Tejaswi Surya on Thursday appealed the Central Government and Minister for State of Home Affairs to extend the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Karnataka and Bangaluru and the entire country during the Parliamentary session.

Tejaswi Surya said, “As informed by the state government, over 40 thousand Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants have moved in the states. They have taken jobs illegally procuring Aadhar cards, voter ID, etc. with the help of the state authorities. They are now posing a security threat to the state. A terror module of Bangladesh was busted in Bangaluru yesterday and the details that have come out of this is very terrifying as they point to these illegal immigrants. They are trying to plot terror attacks in different parts of the country.”

He added, “These immigrants are trying to change the demography of Karnataka and causing a threat to the economy of the state by taking the jobs at the different sector. Therefore, I request the Central Government to extent the NRC to Karnataka as, after the implementation of the NRC in the North-Eastern states, the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have migrated to other Indian states.”

“A sovereign state must protect the integrity of its border and must protect the interest of all its citizens by sending out and deporting illegal immigrants,” he concluded.

It is to be mentioned that NRC in Assam is update is to identify Indian citizens from amongst all the residents of Assam thereby leading to identification of illegal migrants residing in Assam, who entered Indian territories after the midnight of March 24, 1971 and to determine the citizenship of the applicants who have applied for inclusion of their names in the updated NRC.

The final NRC draft will be published on July 31. However, the Centre and the state government have filed a petition expressing dissatisfaction over the proceeding of the NRC.
