Bangalore, May 19, 2019:

A blast outside Karnataka's Congress MLA Munirathna's residence in Bangalore has claimed the life of one person here today.

Bangalore Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar who rushed to the spot said that the incident took place at around 9.15 am on Sunday. The victim has been identified as Venkatesh (45), a resident of the same area who worked as a dhobi (washerman).

Meanwhile, a forensic team has reached the site of the site of the blasts to ascertain how the blast was caused and the city police Commissioner has stated that investigation is underway.

As per eyewitnesses' accounts, the high-intensity blast blew the victim's body up beyond recognition. The explosion reportedly took place near the MLA's parking lot.

It may be mentioned that in 2018, Munirathna won the bye-elections from the Rajarajeshwari Nagar constituency by a margin of more than 25,000 votes. He was also accused of printing 'fake' voter IDs.

Munirathna is not only a politician and has shown interest in producing films. At present, he is producing Kurukshetra, a big budget mythological movie which includes an all-star cast led by Kannada star Darshan.

The movie is expected to be released in multiple languages across the world anytime after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections results are announced.
