Actress Swara Bhasker has appealed to the people living in Delhi to come out in large numbers and help the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), following a rampage by masked goons on Sunday night.
Swara was one of the first among the popular faces, who took to social media and shared the concerns about the happenings in the JNU campus. The actress seemed disturbed and worried about the sudden attack on the students and teachers of one of the oldest institutes in the capital.
“…This is a really urgent SOS sort of appeal. There is, even as we speak, right now a terror attack on JNU by goons who are allegedly ABVP and RSS-backed goons. They have covered their faces and there are videos everywhere that show that they are on a rampage inside hostels. They have attacked students, teachers, they are vandalizing the hostels,” shared Swara.

It may be mentioned here that the incident came to light when videos of attack on JNU Students’ Union president Aishey Ghosh went viral. Videos of goons who wore masks were shared on social media. They had sticks and rods and went on vandalizing the JNU hostels.
Swara continued, “They are now attacking teachers’ houses also. Obviously, this is very personal. My parents live on campus. This is an appeal to anyone who lives in Delhi. This is an appeal that I am forwarding from JNU students who are calling me…Please go to the north gate, the main gate of JNU in large numbers. There is media presence there. There is Delhi police there.”

However, in the video, she also shared that although Delhi Police was present, they were not controlling the situation. “Please, as citizens, collect in large numbers in front of the main gate and please pressurize the police to act and stop this rampage. This is absolutely crazy. So, this is my appeal. Please share it as widely as you can,” appealed the actress to the people living in Delhi.
