Guwahati (Assam), Aug 16, 2018:

The Centre has announced a seven-day national mourning as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on Thursdayevening. The national flag will fly at half-mast during this period.

The Central government has also cancelled all official entertainment programmes during the mourning period.

Various State governments have also declared public holidays on Friday, besides declaring State mourning of various durations.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the former Prime Minister has been brought to his Krishna Menon Marg residence in New Delhi from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and will be kept there for the night, before being taken to BJP headquarters on Friday morning to enable people to pay their last respects to their beloved leader.

Vajpayee’s mortal remains will be consigned to flames at Vijay Ghat at 5 pm on Friday.
