Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai during a second summit on October 11-12. This will be their second informal meet since the Wuhan summit in 2018.
The foreign ministry said that the forthcoming Chennai Informal Summit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional and global importance and to exchange views on deepening India-China Closer Development Partnership.

Meanwhile, maintaining a diplomatic stand, the Chinese Government has called on India and Pakistan to engage in dialogue and consultation on all issues, including the Kashmir issue, and consolidate mutual trust. Moreover, Beijing has stated that the Kashmir issue, a long standing bone of contention between India and Pakistan, is a bilateral issue.
It may be mentioned here that the first meeting between Modi and Jinping took place in April of last year after a 73-day long face off between the armies of the two countries in Doklam, Arunachal Pradesh.
