Amid the ongoing unrest over the Citizenship Amendment Act, as many as 16 flights have been delayed due to traffic jam along the National Highway-8, in the national capital New Delhi.
IndiGo Airlines has cancelled as many as 19 flights, after its crew members got stuck in traffic jams in the city and, also due to other issues.
Meanwhile, the protests have turned violent in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, where many vehicles and motorcycles were reportedly vandalized by Citizenship Amendment Act protesters. Bedlam is ensuing on the streets as thousands have taken to the streets and the police and protesters, even as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condemned the incidents and called for a security meeting.

In a protest in Bangalore, noted historian Ramchandra Guha was arrested by police. Guha was arrested right in the middle of an interview with NDTV, which has created massive uproar.
A number of protesters have also been detained near Red Fort in Delhi, including Swaraj India's Yogendra Yadav. Multiple protests are taking place at the moment in the national capital as commuters have been badly hit due to closure of metro stations.
At least 14 Metro stations have been shut in Delhi. As the day progresses, protest marches are expected in other parts of the country including Kolkata, where Mamata Banerjee will again oppose the amended Citizenship Act.
