Coins worth Rs.100 carrying the visage of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will soon be in circulation, the Central government has announced. The coins will carry his portrait on one side along with his name.
His birth year (1924) and death year (2018) shall be inscribed at the bottom. On the other side, the Lion Capital Ashoka Pillar shall be inscribed with the words “Satyameva Jayate” etched at the bottom. Vajpayee, who served as Prime Minister for three times, had died on August 16 this year at the age of 93. The erstwhile-named ‘Jolly Airport’ in Uttarakhand is also slated to be renamed after him after a proposal for the same was approved by the state cabinet.
