Congress pokes fun as BJP manifesto promises laws to ‘commit crimes against women’

Guwahati, April 8, 2019:

The BJP party released its manifesto titled ‘Sankalpa Patra’ (document of resolve) where it made a number of promises ranging from decreasing tax rates to doubling the income of farmers.

But after proofreading the document, the Congress party pointed out a major goof in the party’s manifesto. The BJP has promised safety for women as one of its key concerns, but the saffron party drew ridicule for the phrasing of the sentence in the manifesto. The manifesto reads: “The manifesto reads: “We have constituted the Women’s Security Division in the Home Ministry, and have made strict provisions for transferring the laws in order to commit crimes against women.”

The Congress pointed out the gaffe on social media and sharing a screenshot of the phrase, the official Twitter account of the Congress party wrote: “At least one point in BJP’s manifesto reflects their true intentions.”

Twitterati too jumped in and poked fun at the saffron party for making the silly error in its manifesto.
