Congress MP of Kaliabor constituency, Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday said that the party will not be attending the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the ‘one nation, one election’ proposal.
Addressing the press conference under the banner of All India Congress Committee (AICC) for the first time after taking oath in the parliament, Gaurav Gogoi said, “As far as I know, our party is not attending the meeting.”
It is to be mentioned that PM Narendra Modi and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday invited Presidents of all political parties with representation in Parliament on Wednesday and members from both Houses on Thursday to interact and exchange views with the government.
Apart from the Congress, leaders of many other opposition parties are also likely to skip the meeting called by Modi.
The parties that may skip the meeting called by Modi include DMK President M.K. Stalin, Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar, and Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
