New Delhi, April 28, 2020:

The number of coronavirus positive cases in India has risen to 29,435, while the death toll stands at 934. There are 21,632 active cases in the country, while 6,869 have been cured from the infection.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 8,590 cases, while Gujarat is second on the list with 3,548 cases. Delhi has reported 3,108 cases of the virus up until this point.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health issued guidelines for home isolation of very mild/pre-symptomatic COVID-19 cases. Among other recommendations, the patients have been advised to take hydroxychloroquine prophylaxis as a drug to fight the infection.

It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday interacted with chief ministers via video conference today, likely to discuss an “exit strategy” from the lockdown. Meanwhile, the nation stares at the possibility of a lockdown 3.0, with all eyes on the PM's next address to the nation.

The Centre and the state governments have been giving certain relaxations in order to get the economy going, however some states are still taking stringent measures in order to delay the lockdown. The Government of Uttar Pradesh, for instance, has banned public gatherings uptil May 30, said the state’s CM Yogi Adityanath. “CM Adityanath has given strict instructions to the officers that no crowd of any kind can gather by June 30. This decision has been taken with the intention of keeping the coronavirus under control,” Mrityunjay Kumar, Media Advisor to Aditynath said in a tweet on Saturday.
Meghalaya, at the same time, has hinted that the lockdown shall continue beyond May 3. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, in the interaction with the Indian PM Narendra Modi, said that the lockdown in the state will continue after May 3. However, there will be certain relaxations in non COVID-19 districts, he said.
