How do we describe the progress of a country? By its economic development, employment generation, advanced technology, socio-economic rights etc. right? Isn’t the scenario in India totally different?
At the time when India is suffering a major problem of unemployment, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has reached to new heights of securing cows by increasing allocation for Rashtriya Gokul Mission to Rs 750 crore.
While presenting the interim budget at Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced for new schemes that secures the cows in the state. He stated, “Gau mata ke samman mein yeh sarkar kabhi peeche nahi hategi, (the government will never step back for honoring our mother cows).”
According to the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, Rs 750 crore has been allocated to increase the production and productivity of cows in 2018-19. The minister also announced that the budget is proposed to provide two percent interest subvention for farmers pursuing animal husbandry and fisheries.
In another scheme, Kamdhenu Aayog, which is specifically for raring cows, the government has announced for Rs 6000 each to the farmers that will be released within three-quarters of Rs 2000.
But according to a recent survey conducted by the National Sample Survey Office conducted between July 2017 to June 2018, the unemployment rate graph has moved at 6.1 percent, the highest since 1972-73. It says India’s unemployment rate rose to a 45-year high during 2017-2018.
So the question is, the government is securing the cows which are good news but at the same time how much secured is the youths of India who are going through a huge employment crisis?
