New Delhi, September 30, 2019:

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has stopped ration money allowance (RMA) for all its field units, following a delay in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ sanction of Rs. 800 Crore.

As per reports, the CRPF has asked the Union Home Ministry to issue the reserve funds worth Rs. 800 Crore in order to pay the revised RMA to all its troops. Reports also say that the CRPF Jawans have run out of money.

However, the CRPF has denied reports of RMA shortage due to the delay in the sanction of Rs. 800 Crore and informed that the allowance for September will be paid shortly.

According to an official statement, the process for payment of ration money (about Rs 3,600) for this month is in progress and it will he paid shortly. It also added that the contention that jawans have run out of ration money is incorrect, baseless and preposterous and there is no crisis whatsoever.

It may be mentioned here that the MHA had revised the RMA in July. An official statement of the CRPF said that Rs. 22,194 per head ration money (in arrears) was paid to around 2 lakh CRPF personnel during that period.

The ‘money issue’ has come up after the recently revised RMA for the 3.25 lakh-strong force, reports said.

The amount is said to be six times more than the monthly ration allowance of Jawans and other non-gazetted rank officers.

The CRPF had earlier communicated the Home Ministry about the RMA for about three times in the past.
