'Extremely Severe' Cyclone Maha which was lying over East Central and adjoining West Central Arabian sea is likely to hit the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli on November 6 and 7, as alerted by India Meteorological Department.
Warnings have been issued for the fishermen in the areas not to venture into the sea in view of the alarming cyclone.

Cyclone Maha, on November 4, at 20:30 IST, was centered at latitude 19.2°N and longitude 63.9°E, about 700 km West/Southwest of Veraval in Gujarat, 750 km West/Southwest of Diu and 660 km West/Southwest of Porbandar. However, reports say that it has further moved away north/northwestwards.
According to reports, the cyclone will hit the Western Himalayan region from November 5th night and central India from November 6. The wind speed may get up to 60 kmph and can prove disastrous to the regions, as per IMD.
The IMD confirmed that that severe cyclonic storm centering at 580 km southwest of Diu and 550 km southwest of Veraval which is to intensify into severe cyclonic storm speed of 120 km per hour.
Reportedly, the cyclone will be landed between Dwarka and Diu on November 6 night and will bring heavy rainfall till the next day and intensify into a heavy cyclonic storm.

It is also expected that cyclone Maha may play the spoilsport in Rajkot for the second match T20I match which is scheduled to be played on November 7 in Rajkot, a place not very far from the west coast.
