Amid the escalation of Indo-Pak tensions, Canada's flag carrier Air Canada on Wednesday has temporarily suspended its flights to India due as the Pakistani airspace has been closed.
One flight en route to Delhi from Toronto was turned back from Toronto and a flight from Vancouver to Delhi was also cancelled following the recent tensions between the enemy countries.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan Wednesday closed its airspace for commercial flights and suspended flight operations across major airports. Meanwhile, India also closed nine airports in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab for civilian air traffic and the entire airspace north of New Delhi was vacated after the Surgical Strike 2.0.
According to reports, nearly 65 flights have been cancelled so far due to the growing tensions between the two countries. 47 flights from New Delhi alone were cancelled, while 16 flights from Mumbai were not operated following the ATC barring civil aircraft movements at the Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Dehradun, Leh, Pathankot, and Shimla airports.
There have been a total of 47 cancellations at the New Delhi airport, 16 flights have been cancelled in Mumbai.
