Guwahati, April 25, 2019:
Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force apprehended one Indian drug smuggler along with 100 bottles of Phensedyl on Wednesday, from bordering areas of Gitaldah, Cooch Behar district in West Bengal.
Based on specific information of BSF intelligence branch, troops of BOP Gitaldah of 38 Battalion BSF deployed in Cooch Behar under BSF Guwahati Frontier were keeping surveillance near the riverine border area.
Alert troops observed the suspicious movement of miscreants along with head loads towards the border taking advantage of dense foggy weather.
They were trying to cross the border towards Bangladesh. One of them was apprehended by troops before crossing the boundary along with 100 bottles of Phensedyl.
The apprehended drug smuggler has been identified as Residul Haque (30) who is a resident of Coochbehar. He has been handed over to Sahebganj Police Station for further legal action.
BSF troops are always alert and are making all endeavors to contain trans-border crimes.
