Gangster Vikas Dubey arrested for killing 8 policemen has been confirmed dead as stated by the police to media. The incident happened when one of the vehicles of the convoy of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) that was bringing him back from Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur overturned.
According to sources, gangster Vikas Dubey attempted to flee after the car overturned. Shots were fired and he was rushed to a hospital.
As briefed by SP Kanpur West, "Vikas Dubey attempted to flee after the car overturned. Police tried to make him surrender, during which he fired at the policemen. He was injured in retaliatory firing by police. He was later rushed to the hospital". Further, Police stated this before gangster Vikas Dubey was declared dead by the hospital authorities.

4 policemen were injured in the accident today, as per IG Kanpur Mohit Agarwal.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh STF team along with Vikas Dubey who was arrested in Ujjain yesterday reached Jhansi. Vikas Dubey was being brought to Kanpur through that route.
Vikas Dubey was a history-sheeter, gangster-turned-politician, based in Kanpur Dehat district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The first criminal case against him was registered in the early 1990s, and by 2020 he had over 60 criminal cases against his name.
On 3 July 2020, during an attempt to arrest Dubey and his men, eight policemen were killed, including a Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), while seven police personnel were left injured. The autopsy report revealed that the DSP was brutally murdered, while other cops had multiple bullet wounds fired from different weapons, suggesting an ambush. The police later recovered weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and an INSAS rifle, among others.
