Jammu and Kashmir on Monday celebrated its first Eid after the abrogation of Article 370 amid massive security arrangements.
Reportedly, the state administration held a meeting with local clerics to oversee prayer arrangements and ensure peaceful celebrations.
In the latest visuals, people in Jammu and Kashmir can be seen celebrating the day along with the security forces.
District Magistrate Shahid Choudhary tweeted, “More than 250 ATMs have been made functional in Srinagar and bank branches opened for people to withdraw money ahead of Eid al-Adha festival.
Six mandies and markets have been established in Srinagar city while 2.5 lakh sheep have been made available for the public for sacrifice on Eid-ul-Azha. Authorities have also deployed mobile vans for door to door delivery of vegetables, LPG cylinders, poultry and eggs, as per officials.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration had eased the prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in Kashmir Valley for the past few days for the shopping ahead of Eid.
Meanwhile, J&K Police tweeted, “The situation in the state has remained normal so far. No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere so far.”
