Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde has been sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of India.
Bobde, who was on the benches of some of the major cases of the country such as the Ayodhya land dispute and the fundamental right to privacy, has succeeded Ranjan Gogoi as the new CJI.

Sworn-in by President Ram Nath Kovind, Bobde will serve till April 2021. Bobde also has clarified that no Indian citizen can be denied government services without Aadhar card.
It may be mentioned here that India’s 47th Chief Justice hails from Nagpur. He is an alumnus of Nagpur University’s Law department. He was enrolled on the Bar Council of Maharashtra in 1978. He was designated as a senior advocate in 1998.

Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde began his career as an Additional Judge in the Bombay High Court in March 2000. He has also held the position of Chief Justice at the Madhya Pradesh High Court in October 2012.
