At least 11 security personnel have been reported to be injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Saraikela area of Jharkhand on Tuesday.
The blast is reported to have been triggered by Naxals targeting troops of 209 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) force and Jharkhand Police.
The blast was executed in Kuchai area of Saraikela in the morning at around 5 am.
Reportedly, the IED was suspected to have been buried under the dirt track.
The injured troops, eight of them CoBRAs and rest three belonging to the state police, have been airlifted to state capital Ranchi, as informed by the police.
The joint team was being led by the 209th battalion of the CoBRA of the Central Reserve Police Force deployed in the state for anti-Naxal operations.
After the blast, there was an exchange of fire between the Naxalites and security personnel. However, the Naxalites managed to escape from the area, which has now been cordoned off.
The operation is still on.
