Maharashtra Government on Sunday took the decision of suspending the vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group due to shortage of supply.
The announcement was made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray during a meeting with paediatric doctors and COVID task force team through video conference,
"COVID inoculation drive for 18-44 age group has been suspended as the supply of vaccines is not smooth”, said the Chief Minister.
Thackeray further urged the citizens to prepare themselves for the third wave of COVID-19. In the second wave, we faced a shortage of oxygen, it should not be repeated in the future. In the coming days, I want to make sure that there is no shortage of oxygen. We will be self-reliant, but it will take time," he added.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the efforts of frontline workers, NGOs as well as the common citizens for their support and cooperation in this war with COVID-19. He also explained that tough decisions, like imposing lockdown, were taken for the benefit of the state.
Maharashtra recorded 26,133 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 682 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state currently stands at 3,69,673 active cases
