Mahua Moitra, the Krishnanagar MP and Trinamool Congress General Secretary, has once again rocked the Parliament with her eloquent speeches and scathing criticism of the prevailing political scenario in the country while discussing the NIA Bill .
Addressing the speaker, the firebrand politician lamented that everytime someone disagrees with the current Government, they are branded as 'anti nationals'. "Why are we in the opposition always at the risk of being called 'anti-national' everytime we disagree with this Government on issues of national security, on issues of law and order, on issues of policing", she said.
Moitra, 44, also alleged that everytime someone from the opposition speaks out against the current administration, that person is demonized by the Government, its 'troll armies' and 'propaganda machinery'.
The former investment banker's courage in standing up to the many male MPs who tried to interrupt her speech has earned her the praise of many. "Such a courageous lady inspite of all those attempts to distract her, she has her points and principles in mind to deliver it", a netizen said.
This caused an uproar in the Lower House, and after she was countered by 3 BJP MPs who asked her to prove her point, Moitra said that "in times of deceit, speaking the truth is a revolutionary act". She further said
This is not the first time that Moitra has said something controversial. Not too long ago, the TMC MP had alleged that the country is heading in the direction of 'fascism' a la Hitler's pre-World War II Germany.
