New Delhi, October 28, 2019:

Pakistan has reportedly denied airspace use for the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special flight. In protest of this move by Pakistan, India has gone to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), sources in the government told NDTV.

Pakistan's Dawn newspaper had reported, "Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday announced that Islamabad has denied New Delhi's request for use of airspace for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in an international business conference in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind had also been denied permission to use Pakistan's airspace for an official trip to Europe.

Pakistan closed its airspace to India in February after India had launched strikes in Jaish-e-Mohammed camps in Balakot in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. It fully opened its airspace to all civilian traffic on July 16.

However, tensions between the two nations escalated after India abrogated Article 370 and 35A of the Constitution, which granted special rights to the people of Kashmir.
