Twitterati mocked Pakistan’s War Museum after it displayed a mannequin of Wing Commander of Indian Air Force, Abhinandan Varthaman.
The mannequin is, reportedly, inside the war museum of Pakistan Air Force in Karachi.
Pakistan journalist and political commentator Anwar Lodhi shared a picture of the same on his Twitter handle with the caption, “PAF has put mannequin of Abhi Nandhan on display in the museum. This would be a more interesting display if they can arrange a Cup of FANTASTIC tea in his hand.”
In the picture, Abhinandan was seen displayed with his IAF uniform and a mug placed behind on the left-hand side.
Following this, the Twitteratis in India slammed the Pakistan Air Force’s move of displaying Abhinandan’s mannequin inside the war museum.
Posting a picture of the same, a user tweeted, “Just because @ImranKhanPTI niazi uncle aur @peaceforchange gafoor uncle ke pass apne war heroes to hai nahi museum mei batane ke liye. We are super proud of you #AbhinandanVarthaman @IAF_MCC”
Another user tweeted, “When your military has no achievements except catching one out of the millions of enemy soldier for a brief time, this is what happens:”
“Should India too build Museums with display of manquinns of One Lac Pak POWs who surrenderd along with Lt Gen A K Niazi to I dian Army in 1971 during Bangladesh Liberation War ? What a low by Pak, shameful and disgusting? @HamidMirPAK @geonews_urdu” another user tweeted.
An advertisement on a Pakistan channel featuring a distasteful spoof on Abhinandan came under heavy backlash on social media which was released just ahead of the World Cup match between India and Pakistan. This ad was also based on the video of the IAF pilot taken during his captivity.
During a counter-attack in response to the Balakot airstrike on February 27, Abhinandan, while flying the MiG 21 Bison, was chasing Pakistani F-16 fighters, which crossed over to Pakistani side and was shot down. He was taken into custody by the Pakistan Army upon landing.
The wing commander was returned to India on March 1 via the Wagah-Attari border after two days’ captivity by Pakistan Army.
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan announced his release terming it “a peace gesture”.
