B-town actress Parineeti Chopra, decrying 'police brutality' against protesters of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, has said that the concept of 'democracy' is under threat in India.

Meanwhile, it has been alleged that the protesters of the Citizenship Amendment Act have been manhandled by police personnel across the country. Dibyoshnata Talukdar, an Assamese girl staying in New Delhi, said, "There was a huge protest in Jamia Milia Islamia, and they were beaten down by security personnel who were wearing bikers' helmets.

The Jamia Islamia University chancellor had earlier claimed that Delhi Police had entered the campus and beaten students and staff members indiscriminately.

Protests had also rocked the Aligarh Muslim University, and things took a turn towards the violent when agitators clashed with police. On Monday, as many as 21 people were arrested in connection with the violence at the University over the C(A)A. According to reports, the hostels in the University have also been evacuated by the authorities.
